Museums of Barcelona.

Culture is a hallmark of Barcelona’s identity. One of the easiest ways to see this is to visit its numerous museums, which altogether present the historical trajectory of the city’s art throughout the years.

The National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) is home to unique collections of Roman and Gothic art. The world of contemporary art is served by the Picasso Museum, the Miró Foundation and the Tàpies Foundation, housing superb collections of the masters who grew up or worked in the city. Private collections, such as the Barbier Muller collection of pre-Columbian art or the Thyssen-Bornemisza collection in the Pedralbes Monastery, exhibits at cultural centers like the MACBA or the CCCB, together with the city’s collection of over 200 sculptures by artists such as Miró, Chillida, Oldenburg and Lichtenstein, complete the city’s art landscape.
